Climbing and Crawling

I have been slacking off with my blog due to being busy with other things...mainly we are actively searching for a house. The process has been very exciting, but I find it almost all-thought consuming if that makes sense. I am anxious for the day when we can own the place we live in. It will also be nice to have our own driveway and yard. More updates to follow...hopefully sooner than later.

In some S and K news....there have been major advances in the areas of climbing and crawling. K is the crawler and it did not take him long to get super fast either. The funny thing is, he still doesn't sit up very well (today he showed some more progress). I thought babies usually sit before they are on the move, but I guess he is alright because he seems to be working on the sitting up more and more. In bigger more sad news for me...S climbed out of his crib last night for the first time! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I was so nervous because A was at cub scouts and I kept hearing the jiggling of a door handle and I finally figured out where it was coming from. I opened the door to the boys' bedroom and S was standing there so proud of himself and he just said "Hi". I could not believe he got out so carefully that I didn't even hear a thump. Luckily, I just put him back in the crib and he went to sleep.

Today was a different story. He stayed in his crib for all of his nap and when I heard that he woke up, I waited a little bit to get him since I was preparing dinner. I then heard his door open and out he came! Yikes! Guess I was too slow! Tonight when we were getting them ready for bed, A and I got to watch S climb out of his crib (it was interesting for us to just see how he did it) and then (here is a problem I didn't even think of) climb up and over into K's crib! Ummm....yikes! He then snuggled right down in a corner of K's crib and said "Bye" to us like they were all set. So we had to take him out and have him climb out two more times (at least no more K crib attempts) before he seems to have gone to sleep. I really want to get one of those cool tent covers for the cribs because I am not ready to move S into a bed yet! I really didn't think this was going to happen to me because S loves his crib so much. Oh well I guess he is just growing up. Here are some fun photos! (Yes, S is holding a fan cord in one of them, but I told him to keep it away from K as he was crawling towards it)

Red, White, and Blue

Happy Memorial day! I love this long weekend! It is so much fun to spend it with family and friends and eat good picnic food. What is not so fun is trying to take care of two kids in parks or homes that are not childproof. On Saturday we were at my dad's house for a family party. My dad has a pool and it was really scary and stressful having S around. Some of my dad's friends were pretty clueless about 2 year olds and pools and could not understand why we were trying to hold his hand or hold him the entire time he was outside. S wanted to go in the pool and had no fear. He was fine and we had a good time overall, but we were very happy to be safe in our car and heading home at the end of the day! I did get to do some awesome karaoke numbers with my sisters (Dancing Queen, and My Boyfriend's Back were some of the highlights)

Monday we watched the parade right outside of our apartment and then we went to our church picnic at a park which was fun, but again a little stressful with S and his lack of boundaries. I watched a lot of my friend's toddlers and a lot of them keep to a home base (near their parents) How come we didn't get so lucky? Maybe next year will be better. S is just so happy and wants to be free and run far, far, far away wherever we go. I also can hope that K will be different too. K is turning into such a sweet 8 month old baby. He really only gets sad if he's hungry or tired, which I think is fairly reasonable. Well again, overall, it was another fun picnic and we are happy to celebrate this wonderful country that we live in!

Baseball is fun!

Happy be-lated Mother's Day! I had such a wonderful day! It was so nice to get a nap and be pampered a little bit. I got a really cute card from all three of my boys (A is included) and some great Munson's chocolates. Yummy! So in biggest loser news...we are slowly shedding the pounds, then take a few weeks off, shed a few more, take another week off ect. but the important part is the numbers are going down in the right direction. A is now down 17 lbs total and I am almost down 14 lbs total. At least I have been good about working out three times a week...so at least I should be losing inches along with the pounds I have lost.

We have some other news in our family...we now own a 1997 Suburban! My mom and step-father were super generous in just giving it to us because they got a newer one. We are excited to go camping and for when A's family comes out to visit, we will all be able to travel in one car. We just got it on Friday and I know that it will take some getting used to on my part in terms of driving it. Yesterday we took it to the mall. S had a great time riding the carousel that was there. We then went to the park for one of S's friends little birthday party from our library playgroup. It was fun, but cold and kind of rainy. We all really like our new big car...thanks Mom and Scott!

Tonight after dinner, S really got into playing a little indoor baseball. I think he has pretty good form and focus. K just had fun watching and chewing on a toy. Gotta love that drooling teething phase! Here are some photos to catch some of the action. The second one you can see the ball in the air after he hits it.

2 years and 6 months stats

So I've realized that I forgot to post about our latest doctor's visit! S used to love the doctor until this last visit. He kept telling me "bye" when he needed to sit on the scale, be measured, ect. It was sad to see him so distressed and then when it was K's turn...they both were crying! It was hard for me and the nurse to calm them both down, but we survived and the next double apt. won't happen until S is 3 and K is 18 months.

K weighed in at 22 lbs in the 100th percentile and he is 26 1/2 inches long in the 50 percentile for height.

S weighed in at 32 lbs 2 oz in the 75th percentile and he is 35 3/4 inches long in the 75th percentile for height.

Just for fun...S weighed 16 lbs 8 oz and was 24 inches long at 6 months!

The doctor told me that when K is a year old, they might both weigh about the same! Well now K is 7 months old and he is doing great! He is eating solids 3 times a day and he is only nursing about 4-5 times a day. We give him a formula bottle for the last feeding of the day. He sleeps about 10 hours or more each night. He and S are now sharing a room for night time (we have two cribs now) and I still use the pack and play for K for his naps in our spare room. K is rolling all around and rocking on his knees, but no movement yet. He loves playing and laughing with S. He gets very upset about toys being out of his reach or being taken away. He is such a joy and we love having him in our family!

On a side note...I normally do not like to play video games at all, but A got me this awesome game for the 12 year old girl in me! I love the Disney channel and usually all things Disney in general, but this is so fun because I love to sing espeically karoke style! (My voice has been sore for the past few days) S is my biggest fan and claps and says "yea" for all my greatest hits! I am hoping to have my sisters over soon to have a little HSM jam session!

(We don't have a Wii...we got this game for Xbox 360 but this was the picture I got)

Easter

Happy Easter! We had a great day! It was fun for S to find the eggs the Easter bunny hid before we went to church. He loved the eggs filled with things and kept saying "Wow. Wow" each time he opened one. It was so cute! After church we headed over to my mom's house for some fun fam time! It was great to see all my siblings and to celebrate S's birthday with them. My brother's birthday was on April 2 so both he and S got to blow out some candles. Overall we had a fabulous day!

More birthday

S had a fun birthday party with some of his friends. We will be able to celebrate with most of my family on Easter. Here are some pictures from the party! It was great and we think S had a good time too!

We played a fun easter egg hunt type of game, but with cars and all the kids just worked together to find them and put them in the basket. It was really cute!

The happy brother!

The birthday boy!

Everyone thought that I made this awesome cake...but no it was my sweet husband who gets really into the cakes for the birthdays. I think he did an amazing job! Here is last year's for S...

Yummy! I love birthdays!

Happy Birthday S!

So today our little S turns 2. We can't believe how fast it has gone by! Everyone always told me that it would and it is so true. We love our little guy and we are so happy to have him in our family. He is always so happy and full of smiles for everyone he meets. He does have his cranky moments, but overall he is a happy guy! He loves to clap his hands and say "Yay!" for songs, when he plays, or when we are driving in the car. He can always make me feel better when I am not happy or having a bad day. We hope he will continue to keep his happy personality for many years to come! We love you S!

Some fun facts about our 2 year old:
Loves cars, trucks, airplanes, and balls. He is definitely a boy!
He is turning out to be a great big brother!
Likes royal blue things
Helps "wash" dishes
Stacks our cans like blocks
Likes to flush the toilet and say "bye-bye" (that is as far as we go in the interest of potty training, he does not like to sit on the potty himself)
Likes to eat, but is sadly a picky eater at this point in his life (we are hoping for a change)
Likes to say please (peas) very sweetly when he wants to eat something, do something, get something (we love it!)
Responds very well to any kind of music and singing (if we want him to listen to us we just say what we want to the tune of a favorite song or one we make up...works great!)
Likes to go places (he gets cranky when we are cooped up for a day or two)
LOVES the playground and being outside in general
Enjoys riding in the car of the grocery store cart

Well those are some highlights of our little boy!

Here is the proud birthday boy! He loved his cars, airplanes, car parking ramp, and aircraft runway. He kept saying "Wow!" It was so much fun for us! (I love those chubby K legs in the background :0)

More for my enjoyment than yours...but here are some great photos that capture S's personality so well! Sorry for the picture overload...it was so hard to just pick a few. I love so many pictures we have of that cute face!
